What this app is
This app reads text printed on food packaging and compares it with the allergen list you entered. That is the whole of what it does.
What this app is not
It does not analyse food. It does not check what a manufacturer says about a product. It cannot detect anything that is not printed on the label.
It never tells you that a product is safe, because it cannot know that. When it says nothing from your list appears, that is a statement about the label in the photo — not about the food.
Never use this app as the only basis for a decision if you have a severe allergy. Always read the package yourself and, when in doubt, do not consume the product. This app does not provide medical advice.
Things that can go wrong
Recipes and production lines change, and a label that was accurate last month may not be accurate today. Printing can be damaged, covered, folded or cropped. Reading errors are possible, and so are errors in matching what was read against your list.
When the app cannot read part of a label, it tells you so and shows you which part. When it can read the label, it shows you the full text it read so you can check it yourself. Please use both.
Your account and your data
Your account is anonymous unless you add an email address to it. How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
Payments
Free scans are included. Beyond that you can buy a pack of scans through the App Store. There is no subscription and nothing renews: you pay once, the scans are added to your account, and they do not expire. Refunds are handled by the store under its own rules.
Purchased scans belong to your account, not to your phone. If you delete the app without adding an email address to your account, the account — and the scans on it — cannot be recovered.
Failed scans are not charged: if we cannot read the label, if the request times out, or if something goes wrong on our side, no scan is deducted.
The allergy card is free and always will be.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and rights you have as a consumer.
Subject to that, we are not liable for decisions you make about what to eat. The app is a reading aid; the decision is yours.
